To be honest you are best doing it at the sound check at the gig. If you set the amp up anywhere else you are going to end up tinkering on the night anyways.

Guitar Amp Settings (Marshall)?
Ive just barely started getting into playing the guitar. And im trying to find some good settings for my Amp. I got a Ibanez Gio Series Electric guitar. 2 Single coils + 1 Humbucker. Several Pedals. (Eq, ML-2, Ibanez Chorus) I got it going into a Marshall MG 100DFX. I would just like to see if anyone knows how to set up for Breaking Benjamin Lead Guitar, Drowning Pool, Three Days Grace, Basically, just rock settings. And does anyone have the Marshall MG 102 DFX? im thinking about trading up so i can get stereo, it just sounds more full. Thank’s

Hi Benjamin,
I personally haven’t heard the bands that you’ve mentioned, but I suppose I won’t be off the mark by much with the following amp settings for “Rock Settings”:
Considering your amplifier knobs go from 0-10,
Bass: 4
Mid: 7
Treble: 5
Adjust your guitar knobs along the same lines. Tinker!
I usually like it as: Mid > Treb > Bass. Its not to say that you can’t change it…
Along with the above settings, use your neck pickup for a more “whole” sound, and your bridge pickup for more “twangy” or harsher sounds… Add a touch of reverb or slight chorus and you’re ready to go.
PS: If I may suggest something very sincerely… Since you’ve just barely started playing guitar, I’d urge you to get used to the *bare* minimums (guitar + amp only) and learn how to work with it before going on to pedals and different effects. Its a good character building exercise for beginners playing the electric. You need to learn your guitar and amps bare nature to add zing to it using pedals and stuff. But it finally upto you.

What are good settings for the Marshall MG50FX amp?
I’ve been playing around with it and can’t find something good yet does anybody know any good settings for like rock or metal/metalcore?
admin answers:
On overdrive
Gain 10
Bass 1
Middle 3
Treble 8
Reverb 4
Volume 10
Master about 2
That’ll get you a very trebbely sound, something like Dimebag Darrell
Its my favorite

What are some good amp settings for a Fender Stratocaster with a Marshall Haze 40W?
What are some amp good settings for blues, classic rock and metal?
admin answers:
The key to all of these sounds is setting up the proper gain and E.Q..
For blues and classic rock you can use similar settings. Start with the gain at about 1/2 to 2/3 (5-7), set the bass at about 8, the mid at about 5-6, and the treble to about 6. Keep the presence about 5 (most marshall amps have a presence control, if yours does not boost the treble up a bit)
For rock set the gain at about 7-8, set the bass about 7-8, set the mid at about 4, set the treble at about 7-8 (more or less depending on presence).
For metal set the gain on 9-10, bass on about 7, mid at about 0-2 (this is known as a “scooped” mid), treble at about 6-7 (again, depending on presence)
This amp has several effects built in. Try using a bit of vibe and a bit of reverb on the blues setting. For the rock sound, add a slow chorus and a medium delay set for a couple of repeats at about 1/2 the volume (mix).
For the metal sound set up a quick slap of delay set to about 80-100ms with the mix set to about equal volume.
You can set the first channel to give you a good clean tone with just a bit of crunch for your clean sound and use the volume on the guitar to go from clean to a bit of an edge, then use the boost on that channel to step up the gain to your blues sound.
Set the next channel to go from your rock tone to your metal sound by hitting the boost on it.
These are just guidelines to give you a ballpark estimate. Use your own ears and the guitars different pickup combination’s to fine tune the tone!.
